Will my art infringe on copyright issues?
I want to make a collage artwork of `found’ pieces of paper, prints and fabric. I will cut these patterned papers into different shapes and incoprporate them in my paper crafts patterns work and then sell the final piece for profit. I am thinking of going to local craft stores and finding different patterns on papers and then making my artwork from them. How do I know if I am infringing copyright issues? Most of these papers do not say anything on them or have the copyright symbol, but I am sure they are protected by the person who created them. Any idea if my collage will be ok to do?

I’d recommend a box that would also provide people with a safe place to store them AFTER use. I use Uline for all my box and packaging needs. Here’s a link to the 4×4x4 white corregated box.http://www.uline.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?model=S-4575For display purposes, here are a few ideas:1. Use a tree and display them that way. Shows them in actual use.2. Use a grid wall with pegs. This is a great way to display a lot of items in a small space, although cost wise, this is a more expensive option.3. Use the boxes, complete with decorative tissue paper or shredded paper, and have the ornaments cradled in the paper. This will allow you to display quite a few on a table and makes it quick & easy to pack up for someone purchasing one. Another added benefit – you can pack them in the box yourself for transportation.4. Use a garland – this can be laid out on the table and the oraments displayed on there. You didn’t ask…however, thought I’d share a few other display tips:* For displays, I find that it’s great to use different heights. I use empty boxes under the tablecloth to do this.* Purchase black or solid color sheets inexpensively at discount stores (Wal-Mart, Target, etc). These make great tablecloths that hold up to washing.
You can use an electric griddle. I have seen several techniques on crayon art like this and the griddle temp can be regulated so you don’t burn the paper.
There is one place I know (I used to work for a Japanese company near Amsterdam and a lot of the females liked this also!)You can see some of the items for sale herehttp://www.japansewinkeltje.nl/www.japansewinkeltje.nl/www/10.htm and it’s just off Dam Square so really easy to get toContact detail are:t JAPANSE WINKELTJENieuwezijds Voorburgwal 1771012 RK AMSTERDAMtel: 020-6279523fax: 020-6279736Openings times Tue-Sat from 09.30 – 18.00Have fun!
Materials:white paper or card stockmarkers, colored pencils or crayons (markers are brightest, but the others will work, too)scissorsbaby or cooking oilpaper towelsribbon, string or yarn for hangingHave the kids color any design you want.Wad up a paper towel and dip it in a saucer containing a small amount of oil.Dab the oil all over until evenly covered but not dripping.Let it soak in, then use a dry paper towel to remove any excess oil. (You could use cotton balls instead to apply the oil, but you really need paper towels for the blotting.)Cut the suncatchers into any shape you want and make a small hole about half an inch from the top. Cut the ribbon, string or yarn about 12 inches long and thread it through the hole. Tie it to make a hanging loop.
Because you need so much of one particular pattern, you may be able to make a deal with a business owner that can obtain the paper. They may be more inclined to help you especially if you are going to buy in bulk more than just one time. You might have better luck going through a small business owner of a scrapbook/craft store as opposed to a large retail chain such as Michael’s, etc. Good luck.
Keep in mind that ink jets tend to be slower and laser jets will be relatively faster.
Have you taken your machine in to be cleaned and checked?I had the same problem with controlling it on the paper but after I had it serviced, it worked a lot better.
Get a picture of the two of you anddown load it to your computer. Purchase inkjet iron on transfer paperfrom an office supply store and printthe picture onto the transfer paper. You will need to flip the picture soit will come out right. Then buy a tee-shirt in her favorite color and ironon the picture to the shirt. Make sureyou wash the shirt first and don’tuse any fabric softner. She will love it and hopefully wear it with pride. You are sweet to do this.
I don’t know of any specific papercutting craft where you only fold the paper in a triangle and always end up with a circular design, but there are several types of paper cutting art. One is Scherenschnitte which means “scissor cuts” in German and is the art papercutting design. http://www.geocities.com/heartland/valley/8063/scherenschnitte.htmYou can easily make snowflakes, if that’s what you want. Here’s a simple one:http://highhopes.com/snowflakes.htmlAnd more complicated ones:http://www.daves-snowflakes.com/
familyfun.go.com has a billion back to school crafts and gifts to make, with no special stuff needed for most of them
Because people are ignorant, that’s why! When most people think of rap, they only think about the garbage seen on “music TV” that is degrading to humanity, where people get shot for something as stupid as not selling “pure” drugs and women are only sex objects to be used and abused. But I agree, there is plenty of good rap out there that doesn’t do this. I think the reason it’s not as visible, though, is because it doesn’t have that awe-factor where people stare in fascinated horror and it doesn’t bring in the bucks…It’s refreshing to find good rap, ain’t it?
Like you I have just taken up this hobby and find it very relaxing. I have just finished doing 4 serviettes & tablecloth(white background). I used 4 different fruit on the serviettes and sides of tablecloth, with a basket of fruit in the centre of the tablecloth. I did not double up on any fruit and it looks quite effective. I got the pictures off Sickdesigns and printed them out. You can use dressmakers carbon paper or plain carbon paper to transfer them on to your material. What craft store did you obtain this craft from? None in my area have anything on it, so I have to use my initiative.
